Sand-Media Installation
PiS installation is an interactive project consisting of a large group of portraits produced by the participants them selves. Production takes place over several days as a part of a pro social project and as a celebration of communal solidarity.
The “Sand-Faces” are printed on different carpet patterns with ornaments representing the diverse cultural background of the participants. Their fusion work stitches together their own portrait with a background drawing produced with the help of dispersed color pigments.
In setting up a presentation the task of Sand-Media not only to place the “Sand-Faces” in a grid formation on the wooden catwalk rack but to connect the individual portraits to become a homogeneous patchwork landscape symbolizing the community as a whole.
